Fragrance Applications: A Survival Guide
by Stephen J. Herman

Allured Publishing Company presents “Fragrance Applications: A Survival Guide,” by Stephen J. Herman, a book written for everyone who buys, markets, formulates with or manufactures fragrances.
From its earliest ceremonial and religious uses, to modern applications in personal care, household and industrial products, fragrance has held a prominent place in the human experience. The author provides an account of problems and solutions encountered in using fragrances in a broad range of modern applications including soaps, antiperspirants and deodorants, reactive hair products, air fresheners and candles, as well as for controlling that highly desirable ‘new car smell.’ Succinct accounts of the nature of the sense of smell, the methods underlying fragrance creation and descriptive aroma chemistry are also included.
Today’s formulators are faced with issues including product safety and stability, the use of natural fragrances, and aromascience. “Fragrance Applications: A Survival Guide” includes Frequently Asked Questions, four chapters that allow readers to sample the concerns frequently posed to fragrance suppliers by customers and consumers.
Stephen J. Herman, is Director of R&D for AFF International Fragrance Studio and an adjunct professor in the Fairleigh Dickinson University Masters in Cosmetic Science program, where he teaches perfumery.

Perfumery: Techniques in Evolution
By Arcadi Boix Camps

Never before has a perfumer such as Arcadi Boix Camps provided such a constructive and open analysis of new perfumery materials and how they can be combined and used with other new materials along with traditional formulas.
Though not a book of perfume formulas, “Perfumery: Techniques in Evolution” is an excellent guide to perfumers, as well as those involved in research and development on new perfumery materials, in adopting new perfumery materials into their daily creative work.
Compiled from the four published articles by Arcadi Boix Camps in Perfumer & Flavorist magazine from 1978 through 1999, this book will provide a remarkable review of new perfumery chemicals that have been introduced to the industry in the past 20 years. “Perfumery: Techniques in Evolution” is a definite staple in any creative perfumer’s reference library.
The book contains four chapters and a new addendum by Arcadi Boix Camps and Shawn Barrett, where they discuss “The Paradise of Perfumes.”
